Just passed so I’m a CCENT. doesn’t mean much compared to the CCNA but still halfway home!
961/1000.
Used:
-Wendell Odom Cisco Press books (best tool to learn subnetting I’ve seen)
-P4s
BEWARE, though, that I got about 5 different multiple choice questions from P4S. One of the simulations also had different IPs as well as different interface ID’s. Know HOW to do the questions from P4S, not just the answers. If you can do that, you’ll do fine.
Now on to ICND 2 which I hear is much harder…
”

I got a 1000.
Simply, if you know anything about networking. You will pass.
Know how data travels on lvl 2 and 3.
Know how to use basic show commands to find ip addresses and match them to interfaces.
and know how to find which subnet and IP lies in.
P4s really helps.
I am glad I took this path for ccna as I can actually learn the material than just cram and then memorize the heavily passed around p4s 640-802 exam.
If you have any experience in networking and have your basic understand of how data travels a networking, switches. and router hand off information then I urge you not to stress and just study subnetting. I used shortcut method: using the 16,24, 32 and subtracting from the CIDR value, /27 32-27=5 2^5=32 giving block size and just finding the subnets for all those IPs from there. Keep the -2 hosts in mind and mind your subnet ips and broadcast.
Materials I used:
the CCNA ICND 1 Wendell Odom second edition
the pass4sure(definitely study this the week before)
”

Passed today with 948.
I watched CBTNuggets ICND1 videos.
I used “Sybex CCNA Study Guide Exam 640-802 6th Ed Aug 07″ to get more details about
topics discussed in the CBT videos. I found that the videos can help to get you going on the subject
but it is necessary to do some extra reading.
2 days before the test I went over practice question from Pass4Sure.
On the test:
I had about 5 drag and drop, 3 simulations (no configuration required just show commands to answer questions)
Know the basics. CDP commands and which layer it operates on, IP subnetting, OSI model, how data travels on LAN and between serial connections (MAC source destination, IP source destination)
That’s it.
I have to say that the test was really easy – I have 40minutes left.
